Early Engagement & Co-Design Workshops for Competition Submission

Archibeats CIC, in partnership with Fitzrovia Community Hub, is creating a community-led design proposal for the Fitz&Sitz Design Competition, part of the London Festival of Architecture. Through two workshops, we aim to engage members of the Fitzrovia community—families, children, young people, and adults—in co-designing a bench that bridges generations, encourages connection, and embodies the rhythm of music.

The workshops will emphasise sensory and musical creativity, with activities designed to inspire participants while gathering insights for the final design. Children will participate in sensory musical activities, while adults and young people will engage in modelling and brainstorming sessions to create a bench that serves the needs of all age groups.

The bench will celebrate the concept of rhythm and patterns, incorporating elements like cajón-style drum seating, modular arrangements, and features for elderly users (e.g. armrests). The final design will not only serve as functional outdoor furniture but also act as a tool to bring people together and foster community dialogue.
