We are an emergent studio based research area, within the practice and academic discipline of architecture & Urban Music. We examine the extended knowledge of the physical and cultural influences of the built environment; focusing on situations where under represented young people lack opportunities to engage in decisions they will live to see.
We focus on ensuring young people are at the forefront of neighbourhood regeneration by moving the conversation closer to home. We believe Young voices should be centre stage in every decision and every voice is heard.
We have a great selection of Music enthused architectural workshops offering positive activities for young people in any sort of youth organisation. Our workshops can expand on an organisation's specialties, introduce a new edge to the usual schedule, or just provide fun and educational activities for young people . Whatever your youth organization, we have a workshop that will empower, teach new skills, inspire fresh passions, strengthen interpersonal connections, and bring an afternoon, day or week filled with good times and fond memories.
We offer a unique service built around empowering young people to take lead on design and delivery of community based projects. We help develop ideas and deliver. As we develop a brief, it can involve working out loud with our young leaders and users to closely define scope and ambience, working with quick capacity studies and sketches. As the vision for a project emerges, we might workshop these ideas around a table or take work out onto the street while a project is still in flux.
We know the benefits of effective consultation are far-reaching: it engenders a sense of ownership and new developments are better planned, better understood, better liked and better cared for. In order for Community Engagement to be meaningful, it needs to happen across the whole Design Process. Community Consultation and Engagement with all stakeholders, are a fundamental part of our approach to Collaborative Design. We up skill young people and give them the tools to lead the process.
ArchiBeats Workshop - combines neighbourhood exploration with the theme of Urban Music. The overall qualities shared between music and architecture are explored in this two day workshop which aims to engage children within the built environment, through the basic theories of beat making. Young people are taken on a short tour around some key spaces and places where they observe and identify elements which share attributes to the music associated within the estate/neighbourhood. The workshop will encourage young people to participate in a series of tasks geared towards a Design intervention.
